Here's my take: Prior to the 694 the Beretta o/u lineup was a 686 with varying laser designs and grades of wood. But for the DT. The 694 represents a change in that if mostly in stock dimensions. (I was also considering CG Summit Sporting and Browning Pro Sporting and didn't care for the fit of either).
