So I never found enough large titanite shards or twinkling titanite to keep upgrading. So I went through the whole game and DLC with very un-upgraded weapons (about +4 or +5 for regular weapons and +2 or +3 for the boss weapons I used). Funnily enough I did a similar thing for DS1.
