Program Description. The Diagnostic Medical Sonography Program is designed to prepare competent entry-level Abdominal-Extended and Obstetrics and Gynecology sonographers, Vascular sonographers, or Adult Cardiac sonographers in the cognitive (knowledge), psychomotor (skills), and affective (behavior) learning domains. The School of Diagnostic Medical Sonography is a nationally accredited 18-month program that trains students in a wide range of sonography specialty areas, including abdominal, obstetrical/gynecological, and vascular ultrasound.According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS), the mean annual salary for sonographers working in New Jersey was $87,010 in 2022, or $41.83 per hour. The top earners, with wages in the 90th percentile, earned $106,100 a year, while those in the bottom 10th percentile made an annual wage of up to $63,840.
